The GOV would like to offer you Mail-In registrations by your veterinarian. If you have not yet registered your foal, you can do so online and do not have to wait until the 2026 inspection dates.
You may register your Foal by sending a Breeding Certificate and Foaling certificate to the German office.
You will receive a Registration Protocol - Color and Markings Form – and Microchip Implantation Form and a label for the Hair sample via email (You will mail the hair sample to UC Davis). You will retain your local vet to complete the Registration Protocol, the Microchip Implantation Form and the Microchipping (Chip provided by YOUR Vet). You will return the Registration Protocol and the Microchip Implant Form via email. You can find information about fees in our fee schedule.
For mares that have foals but have not yet been inspected, the mare will be entered into the Marebook. The Marebook Status will be defined by her pedigree and DNA and there will be no score or evaluation. Hair sample labels will be sent to you via email. The original registration papers have to be mailed to the NY Office or directly the German Office for the mare to receive her Marebook status.
Mares without a Foal on the ground must be inspected on an official inspection site.
